Happy International Women's Day! | Meet Our All Female Team

To celebrate International Women's Day this year, we wanted you to get to know our amazing all-female team a little bit better! We are incredibly proud that Hiro + Wolf is made up of many inspiring women, and that our company has strong feminist values. Without further ado, keep reading to learn more about the women behind the brand!

Amy, Co-Founder and Head of Design

I am co-founder and designer at Hiro + Wolf and mother to Maximilien, 21 months as well as being Hiro's hooman.

For me, International Women's Day is a chance to celebrate our wonderful all-female team and reflect on how our sister brand, AARVEN, hopes to make a difference to the lives of more women and girls around the world.

I love working with our all-female team! It's such a supportive environment and we are all very understanding of each others challenges.

A woman I really admire is my mother-in-law, she had her leg amputated in her teens and went on to raise three boys (I have no idea how she chased them round with just one leg!). She never lets her disability hold her back and has boundless positivity for life.

My girl power anthem has to be I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan. I love Lyra from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials. She is a true free spirited adventurer who uses her storytelling skills to forge friendships in the most unlikely of places.

We met the wonderful Holly Tucker when she visited our store in 2022. Her larger than life personality, boundless positivity and support for the small business community made me feel really fired up and inspired.

Natalie, Store Manager

When I am not working managing the shop and doing the online orders or looking after the doggos, I will be out and about with my camera doing some photography or just going for a hike in the woods.

To me, International Women's Day means we get to celebrate all types of women in all walks of life.

I really admire my Step-Daughter, Lauren. She own Paws-Cat Cafe in Tonbridge, she rescues cats and gives them the love and care they need. You can sit have a coffee and a piece of lovely homemade cake while having a cat on your lap. I am so proud of Lauren of all the hard work she has put in to make her small business be so successful.

My favourite fictional female character would have to be Clare from Outlander. She became a doctor in the late 50s, early 60s despite the all-male lectures and she goes back in time to save lives without telling anyone how she knew what to do.

Leona, Social Media Manager

I've been part of the Hiro + Wolf pack for four years now. I have always adored animals, having grown up with a small menagerie consisting of dogs, cats, a tortoise, rats, hamsters, gerbils, birds, lizards and sometimes even a rescue lamb or two! I currently have just the one pup, a sweet Chinese Crested cross named Raffy.

To me, International Women's Day is all about celebrating our unique skills and talents whilst also trying to make the world a better place for all women around the globe.

I have always loved being part of our all-female team and feel incredibly lucky to work somewhere that I feel so valued. It's nice to know that everyone is on the same page as one another and no conversation is ever off-limits!

A woman I really admire is my wonderful Aunty, Helen. We lost my incredible Uncle and her Husband, Andy, last year and Helen has been so inspiringly strong. She has always been a constant beacon of light in all of our lives and she continues to inspire me every day with her strength in the face of adversity.

My current favourite girl-power song is Warrior by AURORA. It’s all about pushing through the dark times to find the light and inspires you to keep on fighting when we feel like you want to surrender.

As an English Literature student this is a tough one! I would have to say Tess Durbeyfield (or Tess of the d'Urbervilles.) Though she faces many challenges, she always has a strong sense of self that she fiercely tries to protect. She is passionate and works hard to protect her family.
