Set just a twenty‑minute drive outside of Nepal’s cosmopolitan capital city, Kathmandu, our felt artisans couldn’t be located in a more beautiful place. Surrounded by mountains on one side and rolling valleys dotted with colourful houses on the other, it’s easy to see how inspiration flows through their hands into every product they make - from each handmade puppy toy to our playful range of cat toys to our eco-friendly dog toys.
Founded by Nepalese local Sonu, who spent years working in Nepal’s handicraft industry, her workshop was born from a passion for empowering women and preserving traditional skills. In 2018, Sonu and her Indian husband set out to create a fair and supportive workplace where women could earn a sustainable income while caring for their families. Today, the business provides stable employment to over seventy artisans, the majority of whom are women from rural and marginalised communities.

Every handmade toy, whether a durable dog toy or an interactive cat toy, is made using 100% natural wool and traditional felting techniques passed down through generations. The process begins with raw wool, cleaned, carded and dyed in vivid colours, then gently felted with soap, water and plenty of patience. Each sustainable dog toy is completely unique, full of character and care, making it a wonderful, eco-friendly and sustainable gift from Nepal to homes across the UK and beyond.
At Hiro + Wolf, we’re proud to partner with Sonu and her talented team, whose craftsmanship and creativity bring our eco-friendly felt collections to life. From handmade dog toys made of natural materials to our bright cat caves, every item reflects our shared commitment to sustainability, community and joy. All are CE certified as safe for pets and children alike, ensuring hours of fun for playful pups and curious cats, whilst also being safe for little hands too.

Supporting artisan‑led groups like Sonu’s workshop ensures that every handmade toy is created responsibly, using eco-friendly and natural materials. This partnership helps guarantee fair wages, safe working conditions and a brighter future for rural communities in Nepal. We love that our work supports ethical practices while offering pet owners the chance to discover artisan-made pet toys for their pack.
Designing our hand-felted collections brings us so much joy - from the first spark of an idea on paper to seeing each piece come to life in the hands of our artisans. Knowing that every item we create supports its maker and brings happiness to its future owner makes the process all the more meaningful.
